The IDA AGM was held on October 21st in St. Tropez, France, just after the Gold Cup.
Summary There were no major issues this year and 2017 was cash positive. Attendance at major events has been good. There has been an uptick in building Dragons. Last year Petticrows built 12, but this year they have plans for 25. IDA Events The Member Countries approved the Articles of Association for a new IDA controlled entity called IDA Events. The new entity is positioned to negotiate sponsorship deals with large global companies for major events. Technical Committee There were no significant Rules changes - mainly small changes to tidy the wording. Upcoming Events Europeans on Lake Balaton in Hungary, end of May Gold Cup in Helsinki, end of June Worlds in Perth, January 2019 Dragon 90th Anniversary in France in 2019 The IDA Executive asked for input on holding a Dragon World Championship in 2023 in North America. We agreed to put a place-holder there and to explore the opportunities. In order to successfully host such an event, we will need a host Club as the Organizing Authority, lots of volunteers, and a healthy home fleet. Full Minutes are here.
